BLOGMAS #7: Gift Guide: Books I Would Give as Presents

Image
***Happy first week of Blogmas!*** Here's another gift guide for you! But this time with a slight twist. This is a very personal gift guide - the books I would give to a friend as Christmas presents. Ranging from good introductions for non-readers to a few of my absolute favourites for fellow bookworms. The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern First up is The Night Circus . As well as being one of my all time favourite books, The Night Circus  would be a really good introduction to fantasy. The magic is infectious and definitely left me on a high for a few days after finishing it (which only took me a day and a half! That's a PB for me). Unfortunately I haven't got any of my own photos of this book as I got my copy from the library. So this image is from Amazon. If you'd like to read my review of The Night Circus , click here ! Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn Speaking of good introductions, Gone Girl would be the perfect intro to a myste...

BLOGMAS #3: My Bookish Christmas Wishlist

Image
Everyone loves writing their Christmas list... so, following on from yesterday's Blogmas post, here's mine - but bookish!! (Disclaimer: this is just a wishlist...) 5 Reasons Why I Love The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern

Image
Title: The Night Circus Author: Erin Morgenstern My overall rating: 5/5 Get it here from Amazon I have never fallen as in love with a book as I have  The Night Circus . For that reason, I have chosen to gush about it in this blog post rather than writing my usual type of review. I invite all reveurs to join me. 1. THE WRITING Erin Morgenstern has said that her novels are 'fairy tales in one way or another' and she is absolutely right . From the moment I started reading The Night Circus  I was mesmerised by the writing.  'The rain increases and umbrellas sprout like mushrooms amongst the graves' There's something about the writing that is so poetic and beautiful . Although there has been a fair amount of criticism of The Night Circus  saying that it's very slow-moving, I personally never noticed as the writing is interesting enough on its own to grab and maintain my attention. 'October slips into November, a change that goes larg...
